The Project Idea
The effective use and delivery of Structural Funds and regeneration programmes in sub-regional areas.
Background
In 2004, Bristol City Council (Objective 2 Neighbourhood Action Plan Team) led on developing a network to share knowledge and expertise on the delivery of Objective 2 Structural Funds and similar regeneration programmes in partnership with other European sub-regional and urban areas.
On 22nd November 2004 the Interreg IIIC West Steering Committee, on behalf of the Joint Technical Secretariat, approved the Sub-Regional Regeneration Network (SRN) project.
Aims and Objectives
- Share best practice in the management and delivery of structural funds and regeneration programmes in sub-regional (less than NUTS 2) areas, meeting the needs of local populations and regional strategies.
- Build a transnational exchange on the local management led approach to the organisation and delivery of Structural Funds and regeneration programmes.
- Endeavour to improve performance in the remaining programming period. Experiences gained could be used in the development and construction of new programmes.
